R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Rosie Lee Rand of Houston turns 100 on February 10,
  2007, and she is observing this momentous birthday at a special
  event being held in her honor at the Holy Bible Way Church in
  Houston; and
         WHEREAS, Born in 1907 to Will and Fannie Shepard, the young
  Rosie Shepard grew up in Jefferson; she married Frank Lee, and they
  had a son, Freddy; following her first husband's death, she fell in
  love with and married Clyde E. Rand, and the couple shared nearly a
  half-century of marriage before his passing; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Rand is a talented seamstress who is known for
  the hats, as well as the clothes, that she has made; she also worked
  for many years for the National Bank of Commerce in Houston; and
         WHEREAS, The 100th year of an individual's life marks an
  extraordinary milestone, and a century of achievement and wonderful
  memories is indeed cause for celebration; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Rosie Lee Rand on the occasion of
  her 100th birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes for
  continued happiness and good fortune; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mrs. Rand as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
