R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Rosie Lee Rand of Houston turns 100 on February 10, |
|
2007, and she is observing this momentous birthday at a special |
|
event being held in her honor at the Holy Bible Way Church in |
|
Houston; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in 1907 to Will and Fannie Shepard, the young |
|
Rosie Shepard grew up in Jefferson; she married Frank Lee, and they |
|
had a son, Freddy; following her first husband's death, she fell in |
|
love with and married Clyde E. Rand, and the couple shared nearly a |
|
half-century of marriage before his passing; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Rand is a talented seamstress who is known for |
|
the hats, as well as the clothes, that she has made; she also worked |
|
for many years for the National Bank of Commerce in Houston; and |
|
WHEREAS, The 100th year of an individual's life marks an |
|
extraordinary milestone, and a century of achievement and wonderful |
|
memories is indeed cause for celebration; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Rosie Lee Rand on the occasion of |
|
her 100th birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes for |
|
continued happiness and good fortune; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mrs. Rand as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
