R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The passing of Bobby Delafield on August 10, 2006, |
|
at the age of 60, has brought profound sadness to his family and |
|
many members of the Mineola community; and |
|
WHEREAS, A native of the Lone Star State, Mr. Delafield was |
|
born in Jacksonville; he graduated from the Department of Public |
|
Safety Academy in 1969 and dedicated nearly three decades to the DPS |
|
in Mineola; at the time of his death, he was serving his fellow |
|
citizens as a court security officer at the federal courthouse in |
|
Tyler; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Delafield was devoted to his family; he shared a |
|
39-year marriage with his wife, Jean, that served as an inspiration |
|
to others, he nurtured and adored his children, Susan Wylie, the |
|
late Kevin Delafield, and the late Kyle Delafield, and he doted on |
|
his precious grandson, Andrew Wylie; and |
|
WHEREAS, The Broad Street Church of Christ benefited |
|
immeasurably from Mr. Delafield's active involvement; a member for |
|
many years, he earned a special place in the hearts of his fellow |
|
congregants with his affable manner and generous sense of humor; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Bobby Delafield |
|
will long remember his kindness and his boundless love for his |
|
family, church, and community; although his time on this earth was |
|
too brief, his legacy of faith, courage, and integrity will live on |
|
in all those whose lives he so richly blessed; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life and accomplishments of |
|
Bobby Delafield and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his |
|
family: to his wife, Jean Delafield; to his daughter, Susan Wylie; |
|
to his grandson, Andrew Wylie; to his brothers, James P. Delafield |
|
and Jack Delafield; and to his other relatives and many friends; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas House |
|
of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Bobby |
|
Delafield. |
