R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Nine decades of living a productive and fulfilling
  life is truly reason for celebration, and on February 6, 2007,
  Lucian Hunt of Houston is marking this significant milestone in his
  life; and
         WHEREAS, Lucian Hunt grew up on a farm in Oklahoma and
  graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1940; a survivor
  of the attack on Pearl Harbor, during which his ship, the U.S.S.
  Oklahoma, was sunk, he participated in the Aleutian and Guadalcanal
  campaigns and eventually became a naval aviator, flying various
  anti-submarine aircraft; and
         WHEREAS, After earning master's degrees in aeronautical and
  electronic engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of
  Technology, Mr. Hunt spent two years as a test pilot for the Navy;
  he went on to serve as an air weapons systems training officer, as
  an aviation director for the Bureau of Aeronautics, and as special
  advisor to the Secretary of the Navy before becoming commanding
  officer of aircraft repair and overhaul facilities in Florida and
  California; he remained in the U.S. Navy Reserve until retiring
  with the rank of captain at the age of 60; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Hunt moved to the private sector in 1959, when he
  took over supervision of the American Airlines engineering and
  maintenance depot in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and pioneered computer use
  for recordkeeping in the airline and defense industries; later, he
  took charge of American Flyers and BWIA airlines before being
  recruited as vice president of Saudi operations for Northrop
  Corporation; and
         WHEREAS, Continuing to seek new opportunities and
  challenges, Mr. Hunt later obtained licenses as a real estate
  broker and appraiser and successfully developed a number of
  Oklahoma properties; he retired from that enterprise at the age of
  80; and
         WHEREAS, The widower of Marguerite Hunt, with whom he shared
  63 wonderful years of marriage, he lives today near his son and
  daughter-in-law, Jack and Diane Hunt, in the Bayou City and takes
  pleasure in the company of his grandchildren, Laura, Lisa, and
  Helen, and his great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Luke; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout the years, Lucian Hunt has devoted
  himself to his loved ones, to his professional endeavors, and to his
  country, and it is a distinct pleasure to honor him at this time;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Lucian Hunt on the occasion of his
  90th birthday and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
  happiness and good fortune; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Hunt as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
