R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The year 2007 marks the 75th anniversary of First |
|
|
Church of the Nazarene in Marshall; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Founded in 1932, the church has played a vital role |
|
|
in the community throughout the past seven and a half decades and |
|
|
provided a home for spiritual growth and fellowship for its |
|
|
members; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Today, congregants are led by Senior Pastor Roy |
|
|
Broadbooks and Associate Pastor Kenneth Stokely, whose work to |
|
|
encourage the growth of the church includes the planned merger of |
|
|
the First Church of the Nazarene with a congregation in Jefferson; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, For 75 years, First Church of the Nazarene in |
|
|
Marshall has served as a source of strength and inspiration to those |
|
|
who have worshipped there, and the church stands as a tribute to the |
|
|
faith and dedication of its members, both past and present, who have |
|
|
devoted their time, prayers, and resources to ensure its continued |
|
|
existence; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the 75th anniversary of the First |
|
|
Church of the Nazarene in Marshall and extend to its members best |
|
|
wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the church as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
