R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Rosa María González was selected by the San Anto
  Cultural Arts, Inc., Board of Directors to reign as Queen Huevo for
  2006, in recognition of her passionate support of the arts in San
  Antonio; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. González was crowned during the Huevos Rancheros
  Gala on October 7, 2006, at Plaza Guadalupe; held annually, the gala
  celebrates the wealth of artistic talent in San Antonio's Latino
  community and also serves as the largest grassroots fund-raiser for
  SACA's youth-oriented art programs; and
         WHEREAS, Those programs include the El Placazo community
  newspaper project, in which youth learn the basics of journalism
  and newspaper production while helping to publish a monthly paper;
  the video oral history and documentary project, in which they
  script and produce a complete documentary film or DVD; and the
  community mural and public art project, through which they have
  created more than 30 murals in the Westside and adjacent
  communities; and
         WHEREAS, Formerly a member of the SACA Board of Directors,
  Ms. González is a highly regarded San Antonio attorney who has
  earned the deep appreciation of countless fellow citizens for her
  pro bono legal advocacy in behalf of the disadvantaged, as well as
  for her leadership while associated with St. Mary's University
  School of Law; and
         WHEREAS, Through her volunteer efforts in the civic realm, as
  through her professional endeavors, Rosa María González has worked
  to extend opportunities to those of humble means, and in so doing
  she has also strengthened and enriched her community in
  immeasurable ways; now, therefore, be it
          RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th
  Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Rosa María González on her
  selection as Queen Huevo for 2006 by the San Anto Cultural Arts,
  Inc., Board of Directors and convey to her its deep appreciation for
  her inspiring example of service to others; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. González as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
