R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Matthew Stephens of Boy Scouts of America Troop No. |
|
40 in Houston has attained the rank of Eagle Scout with Bronze Palm, |
|
and this accomplishment truly merits special recognition; and |
|
WHEREAS, Receiving the Eagle Scout badge is a significant |
|
honor, one bestowed on only a small fraction of those who enter the |
|
scouting movement; to secure the Eagle Scout insignia with Bronze |
|
Palm, Mr. Stephens not only completed a project of benefit to his |
|
community, but earned five merit badges beyond the 21 required for |
|
the Eagle Scout rank; in the course of his stellar scouting career, |
|
he has also won the God and Country, Arrow of Light, National Honor |
|
Patrol, Order of the Arrow, Brotherhood of the Arrow, and World |
|
Conservation awards; and |
|
WHEREAS, The son of William A. Stephens, Jr., and Kathryn S. |
|
Stephens, this fine young Texan has demonstrated outstanding |
|
leadership ability throughout his scouting career, serving his |
|
fellow scouts as quartermaster, patrol leader, chaplain aide, and |
|
troop guide and winning their respect and admiration as he worked |
|
toward the highest rank that scouting offers; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Stephens attends St. Thomas High School, where |
|
he has made the honor roll for three consecutive years; active in |
|
numerous extracurricular activities, he has participated in the |
|
Writers Club, played soccer, and lettered in swimming; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through his dedication to excellence and his |
|
perseverance in the pursuit of his goals, Eagle Scout Stephens has |
|
proven himself worthy to stand among scouting's elite, and he may |
|
indeed reflect with pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Matthew Stephens on achieving the |
|
rank of Eagle Scout and extend to him sincere best wishes for |
|
continued success and happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Stephens as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
