R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, For a century, Grand Prairie families have come
  together to worship at First Presbyterian Church, and the
  congregation is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the church's
  founding in 2007; and
         WHEREAS, First Presbyterian Church of Grand Prairie was
  officially founded on February 24, 1907, with a charter membership
  of 19 individuals; Dallas pastors, and later Trinity University
  students, preached for the new congregation until 1911 when the
  Reverend W. C. Baber became the first permanent pastor; and
         WHEREAS, Services were originally held at the Methodist
  Church in the afternoon, until a move to the Grand Prairie Civic
  Club allowed for morning worship; the Presbyterian group next
  rented the Woodmen of the World hall before constructing its first
  sanctuary in 1912; the current building at 310 S.W. Third Street,
  which was dedicated in 1952, has been expanded and remodeled to keep
  pace with the congregation's growth; and
         WHEREAS, First Presbyterian Church stands as a testament of
  the faith and dedication of its members, both past and present,
  whose prayers and support have helped to ensure its continuing
  existence; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate all those associated with First
  Presbyterian Church of Grand Prairie on the 100th anniversary of
  the founding of their church and extend to them best wishes for many
  more years of worship together; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the church as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
