R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The University of Texas at San Antonio has received
  a five-year, $900,000 grant from the National Science Foundation to
  promote undergraduate education in math and biology; and
         WHEREAS, Students enrolled in the Undergraduate Mathematics
  and Biology Scholars program who are preparing for careers in the
  biomedical and health fields will benefit from the money, which
  will provide them with annual scholarships worth $8,000; the first
  class of 10 scholars began in fall 2006; and
         WHEREAS, By rewarding promising students in math and science,
  The University of Texas at San Antonio is vitally contributing to
  the next generation of doctors, scientists, and other health-care
  practitioners; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate The University of Texas at San
  Antonio on its receipt of a $900,000 grant from the National Science
  Foundation and extend to all those associated with the program
  sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for The University of Texas at San Antonio as an expression
  of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
