R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The University of Texas at San Antonio has received |
|
|
a five-year, $900,000 grant from the National Science Foundation to |
|
|
promote undergraduate education in math and biology; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Students enrolled in the Undergraduate Mathematics |
|
|
and Biology Scholars program who are preparing for careers in the |
|
|
biomedical and health fields will benefit from the money, which |
|
|
will provide them with annual scholarships worth $8,000; the first |
|
|
class of 10 scholars began in fall 2006; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, By rewarding promising students in math and science, |
|
|
The University of Texas at San Antonio is vitally contributing to |
|
|
the next generation of doctors, scientists, and other health-care |
|
|
practitioners; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate The University of Texas at San |
|
|
Antonio on its receipt of a $900,000 grant from the National Science |
|
|
Foundation and extend to all those associated with the program |
|
|
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for The University of Texas at San Antonio as an expression |
|
|
of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
