R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Words cannot express the heartache felt at the loss
  of U.S. Army Major Matthew Wade Worrell, who was killed in Iraq on
  May 14, 2006, at the age of 34; and
         WHEREAS, A graduate of Lewisville High School, Major Worrell
  earned a bachelor of science degree from Texas A&M University and
  received his commission in 1995 as a second lieutenant; after
  attending the Aviation Officer Basic Course and initial entry
  rotary wing training, he received an OH-58D Aviator Qualification
  and was transferred to Fort Hood; and
         WHEREAS, Major Worrell was later deployed to Bosnia, and his
  distinguished service as a platoon leader with Task Force Eagle
  helped to earn him a position in the Military Intelligence
  Captain's Career Course; he studied at the Combined Arms Services
  Staff School and went on to serve with the 101st Airborne Division
  at Fort Campbell, Kentucky; and
         WHEREAS, Highly decorated throughout his career, Major
  Worrell was awarded two Bronze Stars, the Meritorious Service
  Medal, the Air Medal for valor, three Air Medals, the Army
  Commendation Medal, two Army Achievement Medals, and two National
  Defense Service Medals, to name but a few; and
         WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have men and
  women whose love for their country inspires them to military
  service, yet the tragic death of this exemplary Texan is a sobering
  reminder of the cost of war; Matthew Worrell will be sorely missed
  by his family, friends, and fellow soldiers, and his bravery and
  sacrifice will never be forgotten; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Matthew Wade Worrell
  and that deepest sympathy be extended to his wife, Camille Worrell,
  to his children, Jake and Luke Worrell, and to his other relatives
  and many friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of U.S. Army
  Major Matthew Wade Worrell.
