R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, No words can soften the pain of a young life that
  ends too soon, and we join the family and many friends of U.S. Army
  Private Valerie Gamboa in mourning the death of this beloved young
  woman, who died January 21, 2007, at the age of 19; and
         WHEREAS, Stationed in Germany, Private Gamboa served her
  country as a member of the 1st Personnel Command; she joined the
  military soon after her 2005 graduation from San Antonio's Memorial
  High School, where she was a standout student and an accomplished
  athlete; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to participating in softball,
  basketball, and track, she was a member of the volleyball team all
  four years of high school, winning all-district honorable mention
  and second team honors; and
         WHEREAS, A loving daughter and sister, Valerie Gamboa was
  known for her vivacity and good humor; although she will be deeply
  missed, her loved ones may take comfort in remembering her at her
  happiest, and her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the
  hearts of all who knew her; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Valerie Gamboa and
  extend deepest sympathy to her relatives and many friends; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of U.S. Army
  Private Valerie Gamboa.
