R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, In recognition of their outstanding skills as
  living-history interpreters, the Badland Texas Rangers have been
  named the primary reenactment group for the Texas Ranger Hall of
  Fame and Museum in Waco; and
         WHEREAS, Based in Uvalde County, this nonprofit organization
  is dedicated to educating the public about the Rangers, the
  esteemed military and law-enforcement agency that began operation
  in the early 19th century; the Badland group specializes in
  re-creating Company D of the Rangers' Frontier Battalion as it
  appeared in the era between 1874 and 1901; and
         WHEREAS, Employing clothing, tools, and weapons that are
  meticulously true to the period, the group brings the past to life
  and allows audiences to get a close-up look at an engaging chapter
  in Texas history; in existence for more than a decade, the Badland
  Texas Rangers have presented programs throughout the state,
  educating and entertaining both schoolchildren and adults; and
         WHEREAS, In their new role as the primary reenactment group
  for the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum, the Badland Texas
  Rangers will present living-history programs at the Waco museum and
  will be able to draw upon that institution's extensive historical
  resources to enhance their presentations; moreover, the two
  entities will collaborate on a number of new educational endeavors,
  including a planned Junior Ranger summer camp; and
         WHEREAS, The Badland Texas Rangers play an important role in
  teaching Texans about the rich heritage of the Texas Rangers; by
  conveying that history is more than an accumulation of dates and
  names but is instead a saga of enterprising citizens meeting the
  challenges of their time, these reenactors create a deeper
  reverence for the past and inspire new thinking about the present;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Badland Texas Rangers on their
  designation as the primary historical reenactment group for the
  Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum in Waco and commend the members
  of the group for their efforts to educate the public about the
  legacy of the Lone Star State; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Badland Texas Rangers as an expression of high
  regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
