R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories
  of Antonio Cadena, Sr., of Del Rio, who passed away on January 3,
  2007, at the age of 68; and
         WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of the Lone Star State, Mr.
  Cadena was born on April 4, 1938, in the Brackettville area; he
  graduated from Brackettville High School in 1957 and served his
  country with honor in the Korean and Vietnam Wars as a member of the
  U.S. Air Force; and
         WHEREAS, After completing his military service, Mr. Cadena
  gained significant experience working for Texas Industrial and
  Frito Lay before becoming an area manager for Neal, Inc.,
  convenience stores; in 1963, he married Hercilia Vasquez, and the
  couple shared more than four decades together and were blessed with
  two children and four grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Beloved in his community, Mr. Cadena was known as
  "Grandpa" to many area children; he could often be seen cheering
  them on at area sporting events, and he was especially proud to
  serve as assistant dugout coach, game scorekeeper, or team water
  supplier; and
         WHEREAS, Above winning, Mr. Cadena stressed the importance of
  good sportsmanship and respect among players; he led by example,
  and his generous spirit was admired by all who knew him; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Antonio Cadena, Sr.,
  and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his
  wife, Hercilia; to his daughter, Cynthia Gutierrez and her husband,
  Eddie; to his son, Dr. Antonio Cadena and his wife, Dr. Veronica
  Cadena; to his grandchildren, Julia Theresa, Louis Anthony,
  Isabella Diane, and Sara Olivia Cadena; to his brothers, Manuel
  Cadena and his wife, Albina, Andres Cadena and his wife, Margie,
  Marcelino Cadena and his wife, Ofilia, Aurelio Cadena and his wife,
  Sandra, Jeronimo Cadena and his wife, Grace, and Jose Cadena; to his
  sister, Julia Arredondo and her husband, Ted; and to his other
  relatives and many friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Antonio
  Cadena, Sr.
