R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, After more than 25 years of service, Joe Vasquez of
  Weslaco is retiring as vice president for human resources at Knapp
  Medical Center in January 2007; and
         WHEREAS, His diverse experience also includes more than a
  decade of service in the public sector as a commissioner for the
  Weslaco Housing Authority and the Weslaco City Commission, as well
  as his role as chairman of Security First Federal Credit Union; and
         WHEREAS, Dedicated to the success of his South Texas
  community, Mr. Vasquez has served on the boards of the Weslaco
  Independent School District and the Weslaco Chamber of Commerce,
  and he has been an active member of the Weslaco Lions Club and the
  Weslaco Rotary Club, both of which he has served as president; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Vasquez is a faithful congregant of the First
  United Methodist Church of Weslaco, where he has shared his time and
  talents on numerous boards; in all his endeavors, he has enjoyed the
  love and support of his wife, Ilda Gonzalez Vasquez; and
         WHEREAS, Joe Vasquez has made meaningful and lasting
  contributions to Knapp Medical Center and the city of Weslaco, and
  it is a pleasure to honor him as he embarks on the next chapter of
  his life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Joe Vasquez on his retirement from
  Knapp Medical Center and extend to him sincere best wishes for
  continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Vasquez as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
