H.R. No. 351

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, The students, teachers, administrators, staff, and parents of Ashworth Elementary School in Arlington have been justly recognized for their exceptional efforts with the school's selection to the Texas Business and Education Coalition honor roll for 2006; and

WHEREAS, Ashworth Elementary was rated "exemplary" by the Texas Education Agency, and representatives from the school accepted the prestigious honor roll award at a December reception and dinner held in Austin; and

WHEREAS, To qualify for a listing on the highly regarded honor roll, schools must show three years of consistently high performance in all subjects compared with other institutions serving similar student populations; in 2006, the coalition focused on the percentage of students who passed and achieved "commended" status on all tests; and

WHEREAS, The commitment to excellence and determination to succeed of the children and adults of Ashworth Elementary School are an inspiration to all Texans, and it is most appropriate that they be given special recognition for their noteworthy accomplishment; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate all those affiliated with Ashworth Elementary School on the school being named to the Texas Business and Education Coalition honor roll for 2006 and extend to all best wishes for continued success; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ashworth Elementary School as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
