R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is pleased to
  honor the senior citizens of our state and to recognize February 13,
  2007, as Senior Day at the Capitol; and
         WHEREAS, There are approximately three million Texans over 60
  years of age; by the year 2020, it is estimated that more than five
  million Texans will be senior citizens; and
         WHEREAS, These exceptional individuals have helped Texas
  achieve greatness in agriculture, education, industry, information
  technology, literature, performing arts, visual arts, space
  exploration, and sports; and
         WHEREAS, Through their selfless service to others and through
  their enthusiasm for living life to the fullest, senior Texans are
  role models for younger Texans; as Texans continue to live longer,
  these seniors will demonstrate the importance of healthy aging,
  which is being emphasized on Senior Day this year; and
         WHEREAS, Texas seniors reflect the state's diverse ethnic,
  spiritual, and cultural roots and exemplify the common bonds the
  citizens of the Lone Star State share; Senior Day at the Capitol
  celebrates the contributions of these citizens and addresses the
  issues facing seniors in Texas; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend senior Texans for their priceless
  contributions to our state and extend to them a warm welcome to the
  Capitol on this special day in their honor; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the visiting delegation as an expression of high
  regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
