R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Tim Anderson, of El Paso, a student at the Air Force
  Academy in Colorado Springs, has become a proven leader on the Air
  Force basketball team, and his athletic achievements truly merit
  special commendation; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Anderson has far surpassed his own expectations
  in his time with the Air Force Falcons; as the team's starting point
  guard, he has been instrumental in the Falcons' stellar performance
  during the 2006-2007 season, during which the team has been ranked
  among the top 20 in the nation and has led their Mountain West
  Conference; and
         WHEREAS, Hailing from a family with a tradition of athletic
  prowess, he is the son of two former West Texas State basketball
  stars, Bob and Joy Anderson; his father, a retired El Paso
  firefighter, also had a stellar basketball career at Austin High
  School and was a legend in the El Paso city league; his mother, Joy,
  made her mark as a coach of the Burges High School girl's basketball
  team, guiding Burges to the 1979 regional semifinals before
  retiring in 1982 to devote her time to her family; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Anderson graduated from Franklin High School,
  where he led the Cougars to the number one ranking in the city and
  was named the district most valuable player and the El Paso Times
  and Time Warner Player of the Year; he was also a winner in the
  classroom and finished in the top 10 percent of his class in
  academics; and
         WHEREAS, At Air Force, Mr.  Anderson leads the team in
  assists and averages 31 minutes of playing time and almost 10 points
  a game; though he is known for his quiet and reserved character off
  the court, his skill and spirited play have made him a team leader
  and have sparked the Falcons' successful 2007 season; and
         WHEREAS, Tim Anderson's athletic accomplishments extend the
  tradition of El Paso athletes who perform well on the national
  stage, and his exemplary play for the Air Force Academy is most
  deserving of special recognition; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Tim Anderson for his significant
  achievements on the basketball court and extend to him sincere best
  wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Anderson as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
