R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Creating a hit song that catches the ears and
  captures the hearts of music lovers is a momentous accomplishment
  that is realized by few songwriters; and
         WHEREAS, Elliott Park of Clyde achieved that illustrious goal
  by cowriting "I Loved Her First," which climbed to the number one
  spot on the country music charts in October 2006; and
         WHEREAS, A commercial artist and a member of the school board
  for the Clyde Consolidated Independent School District, Elliott
  Park spent years honing his musical talents and has been affiliated
  with the Extreme Writers Group music publishing company in
  Nashville since 2003; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Park had the initial inspiration for "I Loved
  Her First" in the early 2000s and brought the song to completion
  with the help of cowriter Walt Aldridge; recorded by the band
  Heartland, this recollection of a father's bittersweet sentiments
  on his daughter's wedding day has won favor from country music fans
  all across the country; and
         WHEREAS, Texas has been home to a long list of successful
  country music performers and songwriters, and in creating this
  popular hit, Elliott Park has proven himself a talented and
  inspired craftsman who has brought further acclaim to the musical
  legacy of the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Elliott Park for cowriting the
  number one hit, "I Loved Her First," and extend to him best wishes
  for further songwriting success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Park as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
