R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Students at Hillcrest Elementary School
         Are honoring the writer of McElligot's Pool,
         Namely Theodor Geisel, a.k.a. Dr. Seuss
         (He wasn't a Grinch and he wasn't a moose);
         He was born on this day in Nineteen Oh Four
         (That's March the second, if you're keeping score);
         The children of Dumas today will give praise
         To the author who often has brightened their days; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Seuss, the most famous of all
         Children's book authors (some big and some small),
         Wrote Yertle the Turtle and TheCat in the Hat
         And Happy Birthday to You! (now how about that!)
         And that wonderful book with the title so sweet,
         And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street;
         He created the Sneetches; he invented green ham
         And Thing One and Thing Two and (of course) Sam-I-am; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Seuss has created great joy
         In the heart and the mind of each girl and each boy,
         Making him or her laugh with their whole solar plexus
         At Hillcrest Elementary in Moore County, Texas;
         Now (not a moment too soon), therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of the 80th Legislature of Texas
         (who don't normally speak in a rhythm as complex as
         this is) hereby commend Hillcrest Elementary
         For throwing a party on this man's centenary
         (Plus three years, don't you know); and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this rhythmic resolution
         Be prepared by the staff of this great institution
         For the children and teachers in all of the room-uhs
         Of Hillcrest Elementary School up in Dumas
         To express the regard (very high) of the Texas
         (not Kansas, not Iowa) House of Representatives.
