R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Current members and alumni of Leadership Southwest |
|
are visiting the State Capitol on January 17, 2007, to gain further |
|
insight into the workings of state government; and |
|
WHEREAS, Established in 1984, this exceptional program |
|
provides opportunities for participants to increase their |
|
knowledge of vital public issues and to visit with the leaders who |
|
are making decisions that affect their communities; and |
|
WHEREAS, Classes inspire the spirit of activism and provide a |
|
diverse membership with personal leadership training, networking |
|
opportunities, and instruction from knowledgeable figures from |
|
both the public and private sectors; and |
|
WHEREAS, Included among today's visitors are Leadership |
|
Southwest board members Kenneth Govan, area manager of TXU Electric |
|
Delivery, Amanda Hinton, marketing manager for Chick-fil-A, |
|
Natalie Laster-Munlin, director of sales at Hilton Garden Inn of |
|
Duncanville, and Steve Smith, corporate secretary for Best |
|
Southwest Partnership; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through its efforts to build a more informed and |
|
involved citizenry and to develop new leaders, Leadership Southwest |
|
is helping to create a brighter and more promising future for the |
|
Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby welcome Leadership Southwest to the State |
|
Capitol and extend to all its participants sincere best wishes for |
|
continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Leadership Southwest as an expression of high regard |
|
by the Texas House of Representatives. |
