R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The House of Representatives of the State of Texas
  is pleased to welcome citizens of Comanche County and to recognize
  February 14, 2007, as Comanche County Day at the State Capitol; and
         WHEREAS, Created in 1856 from Bosque and Coryell Counties,
  Comanche County was named for the Comanche Indians who once
  dominated the Southwest Plains; and
         WHEREAS, Ideally situated in the hills of Central Texas,
  Comanche County enjoys scenic vistas and fertile soil, and the
  county takes great pride in its many historical treasures and
  beautiful Lake Proctor; and
         WHEREAS, The county seat of Comanche is a nationally
  accredited Main Street City; it is home to "Old Cora," one of the
  oldest original existing courthouses in Texas, and the 26th annual
  Comanche Pow-Wow; De Leon is the home of the annual Peach and Melon
  Festival, which is in its 93rd year; and
         WHEREAS, Residents of Comanche County enjoy a strong local
  economy, based primarily on agriculture, with tourism and hunting
  also making important contributions; and
         WHEREAS, Citizens of Comanche County are friendly and work
  diligently for the betterment of their county and its communities,
  and they have much to be proud of; the county has played an
  important role in the history of Texas, and with its civic-minded
  residents and a healthy economy, it is truly an asset to our state;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize February 14, 2007, as Comanche County
  Day at the State Capitol and join residents in their celebration of
  this occasion.
