R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Robert M. Bricker, Jr., of Liberty exhibited heroism
  and extraordinary courage while participating in aerial combat
  during World War II, and his distinguished service has been honored
  with the Distinguished Flying Cross from the United States Air
  Force, which was awarded to this brave airman on January 27, 2007;
  and
         WHEREAS, First Lieutenant Robert M. Bricker, Jr., received
  this honor for performing his duties as a navigator in a B-24
  Liberator heavy bomber in July 1944; his exemplary knowledge and
  outstanding airmanship were integral to the success and the
  survival of his crew in over 250 hours of combat flying, involving
  50 missions over enemy-occupied Europe; and
         WHEREAS, Demonstrating outstanding proficiency and
  unwavering devotion to duty, Lieutenant Bricker was responsible for
  multiple tasks during his missions; in addition to acting as
  navigator, he was charged with administering first aid to his crew
  during combat; he was also a first-aid instructor and taught
  courses in magnetism as a basis for understanding aircraft
  instruments; and
         WHEREAS, This brave Texan previously received a number of
  official commendations for his service during World War II,
  including the Air Medal with eight Oak Leaf Clusters, four Bronze
  Battle Stars, and the Distinguished Unit Badge; and
         WHEREAS, Americans owe an incalculable debt to the nation's
  military personnel, who have served valiantly throughout this
  country's history and whose efforts and sacrifice have insured both
  our safety and our freedom; Robert Bricker's illustrious service
  during World War II was in keeping with the highest standards of the
  United States Armed Forces, and he is most deserving of this
  prestigious honor; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Robert M. Bricker, Jr., for his
  receipt of the Distinguished Flying Cross and extend sincere thanks
  to him for serving his country during World War II; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Bricker as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
