R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and |
|
meaningful service to others may comfort the family and friends of |
|
Albert D. Jefferson of El Paso, who passed away on January 30, 2007, |
|
at the age of 71; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Jefferson was a respected activist and the |
|
founder of several civic groups, including the Westside Upper |
|
Valley Forum and the Westside Upper Valley Voters Coalition; |
|
especially strong in his opposition to tax increases and his |
|
support of public transportation, he was dedicated to inspiring |
|
others to give back to their communities; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Jefferson attended Harvard University, where he |
|
discovered an interest in geology; he worked as a consulting |
|
geologist, specializing in gold mining, and his efforts took him to |
|
Mexico, South America, Africa, Arizona, and Wyoming; and |
|
WHEREAS, A man who was true to his principles-he knew how to |
|
drive but lived many years without a car, Mr. Jefferson made a |
|
lasting difference in the lives of others, and he will be remembered |
|
with great admiration and appreciation for his lasting |
|
contributions to his community; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Albert D. Jefferson |
|
and extend sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Rosa |
|
M. Jefferson; to his sons, Albert Dean, Jonathan Dean, Oliver G., |
|
Jason A., and Winston M. Jefferson; and to his other relatives and |
|
friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Albert D. |
|
Jefferson. |
