R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Gamma Sigma Charitable and Educational |
|
|
Foundation is hosting its Annual Scholarship Luncheon and Fashion |
|
|
Extravaganza in Houston on February 25, 2007; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The oldest chapter in Houston of Sigma Gamma Rho |
|
|
Sorority, Inc., Gamma Sigma was founded in 1928 by six area |
|
|
educators who were interested in fostering scholarship, community |
|
|
service, leadership, and finer womanhood; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The purpose of the annual luncheon and fashion show |
|
|
is to raise money for the chapter's service projects, which include |
|
|
providing eyeglasses to underprivileged children, hosting classes |
|
|
and workshops, sponsoring scholarships for deserving students, and |
|
|
giving food to the needy; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Volunteers working diligently in the community to |
|
|
educate and assist fellow residents in improving their quality of |
|
|
life may inspire others to act similarly, and the Gamma Sigma |
|
|
luncheon and fashion show provides a welcome opportunity to commend |
|
|
the members of this outstanding organization for their dedicated |
|
|
efforts; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the Gamma Sigma Charitable and |
|
|
Educational Foundation 2007 Scholarship Luncheon and Fashion |
|
|
Extravaganza and extend to the organizers sincere best wishes for a |
|
|
successful event; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the chapter as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
