R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The Coppell Middle School North Cougar Band has been |
|
named the 2006-2007 Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) State |
|
Honor Band; and |
|
WHEREAS, In reaching this exciting milestone, which is the |
|
highest honor a band program can receive in Texas, the 64 members of |
|
the Coppell Middle School North Cougar Band claimed first place |
|
honors at district, regional, and area contests to advance to the |
|
state competition, where their performance outshone the 13 other |
|
state finalist bands; and |
|
WHEREAS, Earning this prestigious distinction requires not |
|
only a commitment to excellence from the band and its directors, but |
|
also strong support from both the school and community; this |
|
talented group of musicians has been skillfully led to this |
|
noteworthy achievement by director Joey Ashbrook and assistant |
|
director Brandon Slovak, and they have been encouraged and |
|
motivated by several outstanding parents and volunteers; and |
|
WHEREAS, Being named the 2006-2007 TMEA State Honor Band is |
|
truly an apt reflection of the hard work and perseverance of all the |
|
gifted members and dedicated directors of the Coppell Middle School |
|
North Cougar Band, and it is an accomplishment that truly merits |
|
special recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate all associated with the Coppell |
|
Middle School North Cougar Band on earning the title of 2006-2007 |
|
Texas Music Educators Association State Honor Band and extend to |
|
them best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the band as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
