R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A 51st wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of love
  and shared experiences, and Claude Richard and Lillian Elise Hazel
  of Houston celebrated this milestone in their marriage on January
  28, 2007; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Hazel and the former Lillian Elise Lightfoot met
  on a blind date and were joined in matrimony in 1956, at a ceremony
  held at St. John the Divine Episcopal Church in Houston; through the
  years, they have been blessed with seven children, Claude Richard
  Hazel, Jr., Daphne Locket Hazel Rank, Reese Eric Hazel, Geoffrey
  John Hazel, Catherine Elise Hazel Wixey, Brian David Hazel, and
  Sarah Elisabeth Hazel Husbands, as well as 19 grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, A veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Hazel was a
  lieutenant colonel with the United States Army and earned his law
  degree from The University of Texas before starting the Pasadena
  Bail Bond Company and the Liberty Bonding Company; also a graduate
  of The University of Texas, Mrs. Hazel lovingly raised her seven
  children and was a bus driver and an English teacher at Faith
  Christian Academy; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Hazel have been active members of the
  Church of the Redeemer since 1969, and they have served the
  congregation on prayer ministry teams, as chalice bearers, and on
  the vestry; supporters of foreign mission work, including an
  orphanage in Monterrey, Mexico, the Hazels enjoy traveling and have
  seen the sights of Europe, Korea, and Japan; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Hazel have enjoyed 51 years of abiding
  love and affection for one another, and they are among a select and
  truly exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a
  lasting commitment; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Texas House of Representatives of the 80th
  Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Claude and Elise Hazel on
  their 51st wedding anniversary and extend to them best wishes for
  continued happiness together; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Hazel as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
