R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Alice Heard of Wharton helped save the life of a |
|
drowning child on November 4, 2006, and her swift and brave actions |
|
earned her the Citizen of the Year Award from the Wharton Police |
|
Department; and |
|
WHEREAS, Enjoying an evening at home, Ms. Heard was alerted |
|
to the emergency by a fellow resident; along with a neighbor, she |
|
worked quickly to retrieve the child from the water, and then Ms. |
|
Heard, a nurse, performed rescue breathing until EMS personnel |
|
arrived; and |
|
WHEREAS, In a moment of sudden crisis, the courageous and |
|
generous instincts of Alice Heard propelled her to take decisive |
|
action, and her response was instrumental in saving a youth's life; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commend Alice Heard for her lifesaving actions |
|
and congratulate her on her receipt of the Citizen of the Year Award |
|
from the Wharton Police Department; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Heard as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
