R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Jessica Kemp of Houston has been accepted into The |
|
|
University of Texas at Austin School of Law; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ranked among the top 20 on the 2007 U.S. News & World |
|
|
Report list of America's law schools, The University of Texas at |
|
|
Austin School of Law is one of the nation's most prestigious |
|
|
educational institutions, and gaining admission to this respected |
|
|
establishment is truly a significant accomplishment; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Kemp is a graduate of Klein Forest High School in |
|
|
Houston, where she excelled in academics and was a member of several |
|
|
organizations, including the National Honor Society and the |
|
|
African-American Heritage Society; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This notable young Texan is currently |
|
|
distinguishing herself as a senior at The University of Texas at |
|
|
Austin; she has been on the Dean's List throughout her |
|
|
undergraduate career, and she has been duly honored with |
|
|
recognition as a Rapoport Service Scholar and a College Scholar and |
|
|
with induction into the Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society; |
|
|
inspired to pursue a career in law in order to help the |
|
|
disenfranchised, she is active with Student Leaders Pursuing Law |
|
|
and has served as its vice president and community service chair; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, With her admission into The University of Texas at |
|
|
Austin School of Law, Ms. Kemp will no doubt gain the skills and |
|
|
background needed to fulfill her goals, and it is a pleasure to |
|
|
recognize her on this outstanding achievement; now, therefore, be |
|
|
it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Jessica Kemp on her acceptance to |
|
|
The University of Texas at Austin School of Law and extend to her |
|
|
best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Kemp as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
