R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Jimmy Goodson, president of The Victoria College |
|
|
in Victoria, received a James T. Rogers Meritorious Service Award |
|
|
from the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of |
|
|
Colleges and Schools; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Goodson has been a member of the nominating |
|
|
committee and chair corps for the Commission on Colleges, and he |
|
|
currently serves as a member of the committee on criteria and |
|
|
reports for the commission; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Deeply committed to his profession, he has also |
|
|
shared his time and talents as president of the Texas Association of |
|
|
Community Colleges and the Texas Junior College Board Members and |
|
|
Administrators Association and as a member of the Association of |
|
|
Texas Colleges and Universities and the Commission on Minority |
|
|
Resources of the American Association of Community Colleges; |
|
|
moreover, he has long supported numerous community organizations, |
|
|
including the Victoria Fine Arts Association, the YMCA, the |
|
|
Victoria Symphony Society, and the Victoria Chamber of Commerce; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This esteemed administrator has contributed |
|
|
immeasurably to the field of higher education, and he may reflect |
|
|
with pride on his outstanding record of achievement; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Jimmy Goodson on his receipt of |
|
|
the James T. Rogers Meritorious Service Award from the Commission |
|
|
on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and |
|
|
extend to him best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Dr. Goodson as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
