R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Thomas C. Harrison of Katy was elected president |
|
of the Texas Dental Association in June 2006, marking yet another |
|
milestone in his history of service to his profession and his |
|
community; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in 1953 in Temple, Thomas Harrison earned a |
|
bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University in Lubbock in 1975, |
|
and he received his D.D.S. from the Baylor College of Dentistry in |
|
Dallas in 1979; and |
|
WHEREAS, In private practice in Katy since then, Dr. Harrison |
|
is active professionally on the local, state, and national levels; |
|
he is a member of the Greater Houston Dental Society and has chaired |
|
that organization's legislative, nominating, and membership |
|
recruitment and retention committees, and he has also served on its |
|
board and as its president in 2001-2002; and |
|
WHEREAS, On the state level, he has been affiliated with the |
|
Texas Dental Association since 1979 and has served as a member of |
|
its House of Delegates since 1984; nationally, he is a longtime |
|
member of the American Dental Association as well as a member of its |
|
House of Delegates; moreover, he has served on the ADA Task Force on |
|
Structure and Function and Council on Dental Practice, and he has |
|
chaired the organization's Advisory Committee for Chemical |
|
Dependency Issues and Dental Well-Being Advisory Committee; and |
|
WHEREAS, Equally active in the life of his community, Dr. |
|
Harrison is a longtime parishioner of St. Peter's United Methodist |
|
Church; he has been a member of the Katy Chamber of Commerce since |
|
1989, and he has worked in an advisory capacity with the Katy |
|
Independent School District and Houston Community College, which |
|
have recognized his service with the Katy ISD/PTA Life Membership |
|
Award in 1997 and the Houston Community College Paragon Award in |
|
2001, respectively; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Dr. Thomas C. Harrison has |
|
amply demonstrated his tireless commitment to the betterment of the |
|
practice of dentistry and to the welfare of the people of Katy and |
|
the Houston area; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commend Dr. Thomas C. Harrison for his service |
|
to his profession and his community and extend to him best wishes |
|
for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Dr. Harrison as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
