R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The residents of Santa Fe have lost an admired
  citizen with the passing of Joseph A. Raitano, Sr., on January 28,
  2007, at the age of 72; and
         WHEREAS, Born on May 18, 1934, in Galveston, Mr. Raitano
  lived in Santa Fe for 35 years and was a longtime member of Our Lady
  of Lourdes Catholic Church; and
         WHEREAS, A dedicated athletic mentor, he worked as a high
  school coach at Kirwin High School in Galveston, De La Salle High
  School in New Orleans, Reicher High School in Waco, and Santa Fe
  High School, where he influenced numerous young men and women with
  his inspiring guidance; he also served as the athletic director at
  Santa Fe High prior to his retirement; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Raitano then worked for the Galveston County
  Road and Drainage Department Precinct 2 and served as the chairman
  of the commissioners for the Galveston County Drainage District No.
  1; an active participant in the community, he was a member of the
  Galveston County Beach Parks board and the board of Moody Gardens;
  in addition, he belonged to the University of Houston Alumni and
  Letterman's Club and the Texas High School Coaches Association; and
         WHEREAS, Known for his calm spirit, quiet demeanor, and warm
  smile, Joseph Raitano was a beloved role model and a prominent civic
  leader who will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Joseph A. Raitano,
  Sr., and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to
  his wife of 51 years, Margaret Ann Raitano; to his children, Laura
  Jo Longcoy and her husband, Wayne, Marianne Ross and her husband,
  Tony, and Joseph A. Raitano, Jr.; to his brother, Johnny Raitano; to
  his sister, Josephine Morris and her husband, J. P.; to his
  grandchildren, Lauren, Jeffrey, and David Longcoy, Devyn Raitano,
  and Christopher Ross; and to his other relatives and friends; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Joseph A.
  Raitano, Sr.
