R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Sumner and Betty Stacy of Mineola celebrated their
  60th wedding anniversary on November 27, 2006, marking a memorable
  milestone in their long and happy marriage; and
         WHEREAS, Though they attended the same high school in Wilson,
  New York, Mr. Stacy didn't meet the former Betty Burnett until
  January 1946, when the local volunteer fire department held a
  square dance; and
         WHEREAS, Since being joined in matrimony on November of that
  same year, the couple have been blessed with three children, Roger,
  Ronald, and Janice, and they have also shared in the joy of
  welcoming five grandchildren into their family; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Stacy, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, is
  retired from a notable career as a project manager in the field of
  structural engineering; he served an 18-year tenure with Laur and
  Mack Construction Company in Niagara Falls and a seven-year tenure
  working on the Niagara Power Project with Uhl, Hall and Rich before
  moving to Hayward, California, where he oversaw the completion of
  many large flood-control projects, schools, roads, and buildings;
  in his free time, this respected Mason has enjoyed participation in
  the Blue Lodge for 65 years; and
         WHEREAS, A devoted wife and mother, Mrs. Stacy has been a
  nurturing homemaker throughout their marriage; after her children
  graduated from high school, she attended a technical school to
  learn data processing and went on to serve as a keypunch operator
  with Physics International for more than a decade; Mrs. Stacy also
  started her own business, BJS Lapidary, which incorporates her
  favorite hobby of collecting and polishing semiprecious stones; and
         WHEREAS, Active members of their community, the Stacys have
  participated in the Order of the Eastern Star, The International
  Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, and the National Campers and
  Hikers Association, Inc.; they are also valued congregants of First
  United Methodist Church in Mineola; and
         WHEREAS, For six decades, Mr. and Mrs. Stacy have built a
  strong bond of love, filling each other's lives with many happy
  times and cherished family memories, and they are among a select and
  truly exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a
  lasting commitment; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Sumner and Betty Stacy on their 60th
  wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for
  continued happiness together; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Stacy as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
