R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The family and friends of U.S. Army Private Clarence
  Spencer of Fort Worth have suffered an immeasurable loss with his
  death on February 4, 2007, at the age of 24; and
         WHEREAS, Killed in the performance of his duties in Iraq,
  Private Spencer was a member of the 1st Cavalry Division's 3rd
  Brigade Combat Team out of Fort Hood; and
         WHEREAS, A native Texan, he was born November 26, 1982, in
  Fort Worth and attended Dunbar High School, where he was active in
  the JROTC program and an all-district strong safety on the football
  team; and
         WHEREAS, Private Spencer joined the U.S. Marine Corps after
  his graduation, serving four years before enlisting in the Army so
  that he could be closer to his family; during his military tenure,
  he completed three tours of duty in Iraq and earned the Purple Heart
  for his courageous service; and
         WHEREAS, Private Spencer was serving his fourth tour at the
  time of his death, and despite the dangerous nature of his mission,
  he remained devoted to serving his country; and
         WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have men and
  women whose love for their country inspires them to take up military
  service, yet the tragic death of this fine young man is a sobering
  reminder of the cost of war; Private Spencer embodied the highest
  ideals of the U.S. armed forces, and those who knew and loved him
  will forever carry him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay special tribute to the life of U.S. Army
  Private Clarence Spencer and extend deepest sympathy to his family:
  to his wife, Shanta Spencer; to his daughter, Chania Spencer; to his
  mother, Juanita Cole; to his sister, Shaneika Bell; and to his other
  relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of U.S. Army
  Private Clarence Spencer.
