R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A full and generous life came to an end with the |
|
passing of Joe V. Galvan of San Antonio on January 12, 2006, at the |
|
age of 85; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born on June 12, 1920, Mr. Galvan courageously |
|
served his country as a member of the U.S. Army's 1st Cavalry in the |
|
Pacific theater during World War II; for his heroism in behalf of |
|
this nation, he received the Purple Heart after being wounded on the |
|
island of Guam; and |
|
WHEREAS, Returning stateside, he enjoyed a rewarding |
|
marriage with his wife, Benigna Galvan, and became the devoted |
|
father of five sons; as the years passed by, Mr. Galvan took |
|
pleasure in seeing his sons marry and in welcoming two more |
|
generations of children into his warm embrace; and |
|
WHEREAS, Joe Galvan was blessed with many happy times and |
|
cherished memories during his time on this earth, and he will long |
|
be fondly remembered by those who held him dear; now, therefore, be |
|
it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas |
|
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of |
|
Joe V. Galvan and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his |
|
family: to his sons, Richard Galvan and his wife, Cindy, Robert |
|
Galvan and his wife, Barbara, Joe Galvan and his wife, Vicky, and |
|
Roy Galvan and his wife, Di; to his 11 grandchildren and three |
|
great-grandchildren; to his sisters-in-law, Lilly Galvan and Marie |
|
Guadarrama; to his numerous nieces and nephews; and to his other |
|
relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Joe |
|
V. Galvan. |
