R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life came to an end with the
  passing of Joe V. Galvan of San Antonio on January 12, 2006, at the
  age of 85; and
         WHEREAS, Born on June 12, 1920, Mr. Galvan courageously
  served his country as a member of the U.S. Army's 1st Cavalry in the
  Pacific theater during World War II; for his heroism in behalf of
  this nation, he received the Purple Heart after being wounded on the
  island of Guam; and
         WHEREAS, Returning stateside, he enjoyed a rewarding
  marriage with his wife, Benigna Galvan, and became the devoted
  father of five sons; as the years passed by, Mr. Galvan took
  pleasure in seeing his sons marry and in welcoming two more
  generations of children into his warm embrace; and
         WHEREAS, Joe Galvan was blessed with many happy times and
  cherished memories during his time on this earth, and he will long
  be fondly remembered by those who held him dear; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
  Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
  Joe V. Galvan and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his
  family: to his sons, Richard Galvan and his wife, Cindy, Robert
  Galvan and his wife, Barbara, Joe Galvan and his wife, Vicky, and
  Roy Galvan and his wife, Di; to his 11 grandchildren and three
  great-grandchildren; to his sisters-in-law, Lilly Galvan and Marie
  Guadarrama; to his numerous nieces and nephews; and to his other
  relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Joe
  V. Galvan.
