R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The certain knowledge of a life well lived may |
|
temper the profound sadness caused by the death of Sister Stephanie |
|
Deegan on September 3, 2006; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in Clonmore, County Tipperary, Ireland, on |
|
December 26, 1943, Sister Deegan entered the Congregation of the |
|
Sisters of St. Brigid in Tullow, Ireland, in 1963; two years later, |
|
she came as a novice to San Antonio and made her vows on August 22, |
|
1965; and |
|
WHEREAS, Sister Deegan rendered exceptional service as a |
|
first grade teacher at St. Luke's and St. Paul's Schools, setting |
|
countless young people on the path to bright and rewarding futures; |
|
in recent years, she taught preschool and kindergarten at St. |
|
Brigid's Kindergarten; and |
|
WHEREAS, Exemplifying the highest ideals of her vocation, |
|
Sister Deegan played a positive role in the lives of those |
|
individuals who were fortunate enough to have known her, and she |
|
will be deeply missed; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Sister Stephanie |
|
Deegan and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to |
|
her brothers and sisters, Maura, Nancy, Tommy, Paddy, Eileen, and |
|
Patricia; to her nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews; |
|
and to her other relatives and many friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Sister |
|
Stephanie Deegan. |
