R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Pilot Point Independent School District has |
|
|
received a grant from the Verizon Foundation for a literacy program |
|
|
at Selz Elementary School in Pilot Point; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Parent Educators Enhance Reading (PEER) program |
|
|
is designed to encourage parental involvement in the teaching of |
|
|
literacy skills to children and adult learners; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Administered in partnership with the University of |
|
|
North Texas in Denton, the PEER program will be instituted in 15 |
|
|
schools across North Texas; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Verizon Foundation's generous grant of $6,922 |
|
|
will enable the Pilot Point ISD to purchase literacy materials for |
|
|
PEER program activities at Selz Elementary; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This signal honor is a vote of confidence for the |
|
|
dedicated teachers and parents of Selz Elementary School and for |
|
|
the staff of Selz Elementary and Pilot Point Independent School |
|
|
District; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Pilot Point ISD and Selz Elementary |
|
|
School on their receipt of a PEER program grant from the Verizon |
|
|
Foundation and extend best wishes for their continued efforts to |
|
|
promote literacy; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be prepared for |
|
|
Pilot Point ISD as a token of the high regard of the Texas House of |
|
|
Representatives. |
