R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Senior Corporal Roger Rudloff of the Northwest
  Patrol Division of the Dallas Police Department was awarded the
  2006 Cop's Cop Award by the Dallas Police Association at its annual
  banquet on January 27, 2007; and
         WHEREAS, The Dallas Police Association is an organization of
  active and retired members of the DPD; the recipients of the monthly
  Cop's Cop Award are nominated by their peers, and every year the
  annual Cop's Cop Award winner is chosen from the 12 monthly
  awardees; and
         WHEREAS, A native of West Texas and an 11-year veteran of the
  DPD, Corporal Rudloff is regarded by his peers as an exemplary
  police officer; in the words of his sergeant, he is a "go-to guy"
  who has never been called to a situation he could not handle; and
         WHEREAS, The recipient of approximately 80 commendations
  from the department as well as a certificate of merit, Corporal
  Rudloff has proven himself repeatedly as a skilled street
  investigator and a first-rate field training officer; his trainees
  know him as a mentor who will offer advice when needed and listen
  carefully to their concerns; his colleagues trust him implicitly
  and seek him out for advice on unfamiliar situations; and
         WHEREAS, On the night of August 30, 2006, Corporal Rudloff
  demonstrated the brave and decisive actions for which he is known
  while responding to a violent disturbance at a hotel; when another
  officer was critically wounded by gunfire, Corporal Rudloff, at
  considerable risk to himself, pulled his fellow officer to safety
  and ensured that the wounded officer got immediate emergency care,
  thus saving his life; and
         WHEREAS, Senior Corporal Roger Rudloff has time and again
  demonstrated his commitment above and beyond the call of duty to the
  safety of the citizens of Dallas, and his dedication,
  professionalism, and expertise make him an inspiration to all who
  know him; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Senior Corporal Roger Rudloff of the
  Dallas Police Department for saving the life of a fellow officer and
  congratulate him on winning the 2006 Cop's Cop Award from the Dallas
  Police Association; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Senior Corporal Rudloff as an expression of high
  regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
