R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The residents of Williamson County experienced a
  profound loss with the untimely death of County Commissioner
  S. Thomas McDaniel on February 28, 2006, at the age of 61; and
         WHEREAS, A resident of Georgetown since 1996, Mr. McDaniel
  operated his own certified public accounting and financial services
  firms, and he became active in a variety of civic organizations,
  including the Georgetown Library Foundation, the Georgetown
  Chamber of Commerce, and the Williamson County Historical Museum;
  his interest in community affairs led him into politics, and he
  worked on many campaigns before standing as a candidate in 2004 and
  being elected to the Williamson County Commissioners Court as the
  representative for Precinct Three; and
         WHEREAS, Commissioner McDaniel quickly earned a reputation
  for hard work and integrity; he put in long hours to fully research
  issues and spent extensive time with his constituents to assess
  their opinions and concerns; his dedication was also evident in his
  perfect record of attendance at commissioners court meetings, and
  he was widely respected for staying true to his convictions and
  passionately supporting them in debate and in his votes and
  official actions; and
         WHEREAS, Tom McDaniel's honorable service in elected office
  was an expression of the values he had nurtured throughout his life;
  a native Texan born in Terrell, he joined the Air Force at age 17;
  after four years as an airman, he enrolled at Dallas Baptist College
  and earned a bachelor's degree in accounting in 1971; in the
  following decades, he advanced through a series of important jobs,
  working as an auditor for Arthur Young and Company and holding
  senior management positions for several companies that specialized
  in manufacturing tools for the oil industry; and
         WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Tom McDaniel relied on the
  love and support of his wife, Linda; the two spent 34 fulfilling
  years together, and Mr. McDaniel often spoke of his wife's crucial
  role in his professional and political success; and
         WHEREAS, Tom McDaniel's tenure as county commissioner stands
  as an example of committed civic involvement that all may admire,
  and his legacy will long be remembered by his fellow public servants
  and by the Williamson County residents that he so faithfully
  represented; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of S. Thomas McDaniel and
  extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his
  wife, Linda Kay Williams McDaniel; to their son, Ryan Thomas
  McDaniel; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of the
  Honorable S. Thomas McDaniel.
