R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The retirement of Robert Cliff Price as Coryell |
|
County Commissioner, Precinct 2, in 2006, brought to a close an |
|
outstanding tenure of public service; and |
|
WHEREAS, Elected county commissioner in 1998, Mr. Price |
|
counted among his many responsibilities helping to set the budget |
|
for all county departments and to decide yearly property tax rates; |
|
calling, conducting, and certifying elections; and setting |
|
precinct boundaries; and |
|
WHEREAS, A sixth-generation Texan and descendent of the Asa |
|
Langford family, Mr. Price was born in the Blue Ridge community of |
|
Hamilton County; he began to work at the age of 15, finding |
|
employment with an oil refinery, an oil rig, and a lumberyard; he |
|
served for three years with the air force, before being honorably |
|
discharged in 1949; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Price enjoyed a 30-year tenure with General |
|
Electric, retiring as region manager of product services in Houston |
|
in 1983; he owned his own management consulting firm in Gatesville |
|
for 15 years and, from 1993 to 1997, served as Coryell County |
|
Republican Chair; and |
|
WHEREAS, An active member of his community, Mr. Price serves |
|
as an elder at First Presbyterian Church and is a valued member of |
|
the Coryell County Historical Commission and the Coryell County |
|
Genealogical Society; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through his dedication and commitment, Robert Price |
|
has gained the respect and appreciation of countless citizens in |
|
Coryell County, and he may take justifiable pride in the legacy of |
|
achievement he leaves behind; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor Robert Cliff Price on his notable public |
|
service and extend to him best wishes for a rewarding retirement; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Price as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
