R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Chief Nolan Jonas has retired from the Karnes City
  Police Department after 34 years of distinguished public service;
  and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan joined the force in 1972 and
  became chief in 1981; working with the 81st Judicial District
  Narcotics Task Force, he made it his priority to find, arrest, and
  build a case against those involved with the drug trade, and by
  thwarting their operations, he contributed greatly to the safety of
  his fellow citizens and to the quality of life in his community; and
         WHEREAS, Justifiably proud of the high morale in his
  department, Chief Jonas worked hard to ensure that the police
  officers who served under him had the support they needed to do
  their jobs, and he encouraged the sharing of experiences and
  laughter as ways of relieving the stress of that challenging
  profession; and
         WHEREAS, The commitment demonstrated by Chief Nolan Jonas to
  the people of Karnes City and to their police force has impressed
  all who have witnessed his efforts, and he has earned the enduring
  gratitude of his community for his more than three decades of
  selfless public service; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Nolan Jonas on his retirement from the
  office of Karnes City chief of police and extend to him best wishes
  for continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Chief Jonas as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
