R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, For more than half a century, the Reverend Dr. R. E.
  Price, Sr., has been a dedicated leader in the Hamilton Park
  community, and as a tribute to this esteemed clergyman, the local
  post office is being renamed in his honor; and
         WHEREAS, A graduate of Prairie View A&M University, Dr. Price
  studied theology at Bishop College and earned a doctor of divinity
  degree from Saint Thomas Christian College and Theological
  Seminary; he held a notable 28-year tenure with Lomas and Nettleton
  Mortgage Banking Corporation before retiring as vice president; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Price has served as pastor of New Mount Zion
  Baptist Church since the early 1970s; under his guidance, the
  congregation has grown from less than 100 members to more than 3,000
  and now offers 25 religious, educational, business, and
  technological ministries as well as a day-care center that serves
  110 families; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Price is also an active member of his community,
  sharing his time with the Richardson and Dallas Independent School
  Districts, Hamilton Park Civic League, Greater Dallas Council of
  Churches, and the Dallas Museum of Art board of directors; a life
  member of the NAACP and the Prairie View A&M National Alumni
  Association, he holds leadership positions with the Presbyterian
  Village North board of directors, which he serves as secretary, the
  Greater Rising Star District Association, which he serves as vice
  moderator, and the Dallas Ministers' Alliance, which he serves as
  first vice president; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Price has had a profound influence on the
  Hamilton Park community, both as a minister and as a civic leader,
  and his legacy of good works will continue to benefit his fellow
  residents for many years to come; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor the Reverend Dr. R. E. Price, Sr., of
  Dallas on the renaming of the Hamilton Park post office in his
  honor; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. Price as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
