R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of the Rio Grande Valley Builders |
|
Association, Inc., are visiting the Capitol on February 28, 2007, |
|
and this occasion provides a fitting opportunity to recognize this |
|
notable organization and its members; and |
|
WHEREAS, Founded nearly four decades ago, RGVBA is a |
|
nonprofit corporation dedicated to serving the needs of home |
|
builders and allied industries in the Rio Grande Valley; it is |
|
currently composed of 110 builder members and 85 associate members |
|
from Hidalgo, Starr, Cameron, and Willacy Counties; and |
|
WHEREAS, Monthly meetings offer members an opportunity to |
|
participate in meaningful professional development as well as to |
|
network with experienced and emerging leaders in the field; and |
|
WHEREAS, RGVBA benefits greatly from the leadership of Marcy |
|
M. Alamia, the organization's executive vice president who has been |
|
with the group for the past 19 years and has run its daily |
|
operations; the association is also well-served by its current |
|
officers, who include president Alfredo Munguia, vice president |
|
Reynaldo Benavidez, and secretary-treasurer Linda Gonzalez, as |
|
well as board members Elva M. Cerda, Mike Duffey, Rudy Elizondo, |
|
Jerry Garcia, Tony Gray, Atanacio Hinojosa, Eliud Lopez, and |
|
Onecimo Martinez; and |
|
WHEREAS, Reflecting a strong desire to give back to the |
|
community, the association has supported a number of charitable |
|
endeavors to benefit area schools, places of worship, youth |
|
centers, and homeless shelters; and |
|
WHEREAS, Over the past 39 years, members of the association |
|
have built many residences to accommodate the growing population of |
|
the Rio Grande Valley, and in so doing they have played an |
|
instrumental role in shaping the environment in which area citizens |
|
live and work; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby welcome the members of the Rio Grande Valley |
|
Builders Association, Inc., who are in attendance today, and extend |
|
to them sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
