R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, On March 1, 2007, Dr. Robert C. Simmons of DeSoto is
  serving as Pastor for the Day for the Texas House of
  Representatives; and
         WHEREAS, Pastor Simmons has led churches in California, Ohio,
  Florida, and Houston before 1999, when he began his outstanding
  tenure with the Dallas First Church of the Nazarene, a diverse and
  growing congregation that is located in DeSoto and that can trace
  its history back more than 100 years; and
         WHEREAS, Raised in Ohio, Dr. Simmons is the child of a pastor;
  he earned a master's degree in divinity from Nazarene Theological
  Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri, and holds a doctorate in
  ministry from Southern Methodist University Perkins School of
  Theology in Dallas; and
         WHEREAS, For 38 years, Dr. Simmons has shared his knowledge
  and experience with his fellow congregants and benefited his
  community in countless ways, including serving as chairman of the
  DeSoto Chamber of Commerce; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Simmons and his wife, Monda, raised two
  daughters, Andrea Simmons and Rhonda McGinnis, and they have opened
  their hearts and home by informally adopting two young men, Stanley
  Leone and Chris Alexander; and
         WHEREAS, A man of great integrity and strong character, Dr.
  Simmons's dedication to his preaching and teaching inspires all who
  hear him, and we are most fortunate to have him with us today; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby express its sincere appreciation to Pastor
  Robert C. Simmons for his service as Pastor for the Day for this
  chamber and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future.
