R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, On March 1, 2007, Dr. Robert C. Simmons of DeSoto is |
|
serving as Pastor for the Day for the Texas House of |
|
Representatives; and |
|
WHEREAS, Pastor Simmons has led churches in California, Ohio, |
|
Florida, and Houston before 1999, when he began his outstanding |
|
tenure with the Dallas First Church of the Nazarene, a diverse and |
|
growing congregation that is located in DeSoto and that can trace |
|
its history back more than 100 years; and |
|
WHEREAS, Raised in Ohio, Dr. Simmons is the child of a pastor; |
|
he earned a master's degree in divinity from Nazarene Theological |
|
Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri, and holds a doctorate in |
|
ministry from Southern Methodist University Perkins School of |
|
Theology in Dallas; and |
|
WHEREAS, For 38 years, Dr. Simmons has shared his knowledge |
|
and experience with his fellow congregants and benefited his |
|
community in countless ways, including serving as chairman of the |
|
DeSoto Chamber of Commerce; and |
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Simmons and his wife, Monda, raised two |
|
daughters, Andrea Simmons and Rhonda McGinnis, and they have opened |
|
their hearts and home by informally adopting two young men, Stanley |
|
Leone and Chris Alexander; and |
|
WHEREAS, A man of great integrity and strong character, Dr. |
|
Simmons's dedication to his preaching and teaching inspires all who |
|
hear him, and we are most fortunate to have him with us today; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby express its sincere appreciation to Pastor |
|
Robert C. Simmons for his service as Pastor for the Day for this |
|
chamber and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future. |
