R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of the United States military in the Persian |
|
Gulf region are serving their country under difficult and dangerous |
|
circumstances and are highly deserving of rest and recreation; a |
|
group of American soldiers in Kuwait have been working to repair a |
|
run-down bowling alley, restoring machinery to working order and |
|
refurbishing the lanes, but the only bowling pins available to them |
|
were so badly worn and damaged that they were no longer of any use; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Coming to the aid of our hard-working men and women |
|
serving their country so far from home were the following caring |
|
individuals: manager Rick Laferriere and mechanics John Heiliger |
|
and Mike King of AMF Spare Time Lanes Bowling Alley in Arlington, |
|
executive director Karen L. Miller of the Texas Bowling Centers |
|
Association in Austin, and Central Region vice president Larry Ross |
|
and senior facility manager Joe Burlison of AMF Bowling Centers; |
|
together they were able to locate 10 cases of bowling pins, 100 in |
|
all, and arranged to have them shipped to Kuwait; and |
|
WHEREAS, By giving generously of their time and resources, |
|
these caring industry professionals have helped give aid and |
|
comfort to our troops while reminding them of the high esteem in |
|
which they are held by their fellow citizens back home; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commend Rick Laferriere, John Heiliger, Mike |
|
King, Karen L. Miller, Larry Ross, and Joe Burlison for their |
|
service in behalf of the brave servicemen and servicewomen |
|
stationed in Kuwait; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for these individuals as an expression of high regard by |
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
