R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Jack Swallow of Midland stepped down as president |
|
and CEO of the Permian Basin Area Foundation on January 31, 2007, |
|
concluding a highly successful 17-year tenure in that leadership |
|
role; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Swallow was instrumental in establishing the |
|
foundation, which facilitates the creation of permanent charitable |
|
funds and provides grants to address changing community needs and |
|
enrich the quality of life in the Permian Basin; founded in 1989 |
|
with initial funding of $400,000, the foundation today has assets |
|
totaling approximately $45 million with 198 permanent funds; and |
|
WHEREAS, A graduate of Texas Tech University, Mr. Swallow |
|
holds a bachelor's degree in administrative management and |
|
previously worked in the oil and gas exploration industry; he has |
|
served on numerous national, state, and local boards and in 2000 was |
|
named Outstanding Fundraising Professional by the Association of |
|
Fundraising Professionals; and |
|
WHEREAS, In his capacity as president and CEO, Mr. Swallow |
|
worked diligently to promote a philosophy of long-term philanthropy |
|
in the West Texas region, and he may look back with pride on his |
|
legacy of achievement; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby recognize Jack Swallow for his 17 years of |
|
service as president and CEO of the Permian Basin Area Foundation |
|
and extend to him best wishes for continued success and happiness; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Swallow as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
