R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Garden City High School girls' basketball team |
|
|
is participating in the Class A Division II Region II final state |
|
|
tournament on Friday, March 2; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Lady Bearkats won the Region II semifinals on |
|
|
February 23, to earn the right to play for the state championship in |
|
|
Austin; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Head Coach Brent Kirkland has schooled his players |
|
|
in the finer points of basketball while also emphasizing the |
|
|
virtues of good sportsmanship and academic excellence; he was ably |
|
|
supported in these efforts by assistant coaches Jimmy Fine; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dedication to excellence both individually and as a |
|
|
team has been a hallmark of the Bearkats, whose team members include |
|
|
Julie Hirt, K'Lann Nichues, Marrisa Schwartz, Whitney Kellermeier, |
|
|
Amy Multer, Erin Hirt, Lauren Plageus, Victoria Ortiz, Brittney |
|
|
Chudej, Macy Schwartz, Lyza Lopez, Morgan Schwartz, Halie Schaefer, |
|
|
Paige Niehues; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, These talented young women, as well as their coaches |
|
|
and staff, are a tremendous source of pride for the students and |
|
|
faculty of Garden City High and their many supporters in the |
|
|
community, and this most recent accomplishment has rightfully |
|
|
earned them special legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
WHEREAS, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Garden City High School Lady |
|
|
Bearkats on participating in the Class A Division II Region II final |
|
|
state basketball tournament and extend to them sincere best wishes |
|
|
for continued success and happiness in the years to come; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the team and coaching staff as an expression of high |
|
|
regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
