R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The dedicated members of the Northwest Forest
  Republican Women have played an active role in the political and
  civic affairs of Harris County for more than three decades; and
         WHEREAS, Since its establishment on June 6, 1974, by
  Priscilla Petty, participants in this Northwest Houston
  organization have contributed thousands of hours of volunteer
  service in support of Republican candidates and causes; and
         WHEREAS, Under the leadership of current president Sylvia
  Manley, the group continues that tradition of active participation
  in the political process, with fund-raising projects and efforts to
  encourage citizens to vote, as well as the establishment of an
  annual scholarship for a female high school graduate; and
         WHEREAS, Through their service to the community and their
  continuing efforts to effect positive change, the members of the
  Northwest Forest Republican Women are making a lasting contribution
  to the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize the Northwest Forest Republican Women
  and extend best wishes to the members of this fine organization;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Northwest Forest Republican Women as an expression
  of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
