R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Montgomery County Republican Women, Lake Conroe
  Area Republican Women, and North Shore Republican Women have long
  played a significant role in their East Texas communities; and
         WHEREAS, The dedicated members of these groups have worked
  diligently to support candidates who share their ideals and have
  given generously of their time and diverse talents to a number of
  other worthy initiatives, including preparing and sending care
  packages to our military men and women serving overseas; and
         WHEREAS, Chartered in 1979, Montgomery County Republican
  Women was founded in Conroe by Lilija Grumulaitis, a native of
  Lithuania who lived for many years under communist rule before
  becoming a naturalized American citizen; MCRW has earned a number
  of awards throughout its 28 years of service, and was recently given
  an American flag that had flown over Iraq as a token of appreciation
  for the many care packages members prepared for soldiers serving in
  Operation Iraqi Freedom; and
         WHEREAS, Lake Conroe Area Republican Women, chartered in
  1993, is the ninth-largest club within the Texas Federation of
  Republican Women; the group has sponsored numerous programs,
  including an American heroes essay contest for more than 1,400
  local students and a Christmas card drive for the VA hospital; the
  members' efforts have earned the group the Diamond Award, the
  highest honor bestowed by the National Federation of Republican
  Women, the TFRW John Goodwin Tower Award of Excellence, the 100%
  Membership Award, and the Best Newsletter Award; and
         WHEREAS, In its six-year history, North Shore Republican
  Women has earned the NFRW Diamond Award, the Tower Award, the
  Elephant Stampede Award, and more; members of the group have
  donated dictionaries to local schools and books to the VA hospital
  and have supported Safe Harbor, which works in behalf of abused
  children; and
         WHEREAS, These public-spirited organizations continue to
  make a positive and lasting difference through their grassroots
  political activism and notable volunteerism, and their members may
  take justifiable pride in their rich history of civic engagement;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Montgomery County Republican Women,
  Lake Conroe Area Republican Women, and North Shore Republican Women
  for their many accomplishments and extend to their members sincere
  best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the organizations as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
