R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Karen Eubanks Jackson has been named as a recipient |
|
of the Audrey Lawson Impact Award for service in the community, and |
|
her selection for this honor is indicative of the positive effect |
|
she has had on the lives of her fellow citizens; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Jackson is the founder and CEO of Sisters |
|
Network, Inc., the nation's only African American breast cancer |
|
survivorship organization; through her determined efforts with |
|
Sisters Network, she has had a positive impact on public health by |
|
helping to educate, empower, encourage, and mobilize African |
|
American women about breast health awareness; and |
|
WHEREAS, Today, there are more than 40 affiliate survivor-run |
|
chapters of Sisters Network, Inc., with some 3,000 members and |
|
associate members united in a common cause; Mrs. Jackson continues |
|
to advocate on the topics of women's and minority health issues as a |
|
member of several local and national committees and as Sisters |
|
Network's national spokesperson, and her outstanding work will |
|
surely save more and more lives; and |
|
WHEREAS, By taking a proactive role in her community, Karen |
|
Eubanks Jackson has rightfully earned the respect and admiration of |
|
her family, friends, and neighbors, and her receipt of this award is |
|
indeed well deserved; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Karen Eubanks Jackson on her |
|
receipt of the Audrey Lawson Impact Award for service in the |
|
community and extend to her best regards for continued success in |
|
all her endeavors; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mrs. Jackson as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
