R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Argentina M. James has been named as a recipient of |
|
|
the Audrey Lawson Impact Award for service in the community, and her |
|
|
selection for this honor is indicative of the positive effect she |
|
|
has had on the lives of her fellow citizens; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. James, who holds degrees in journalism and |
|
|
communications from Texas Southern University, is the director of |
|
|
public affairs for the Port of Houston Authority, a challenging |
|
|
position in which she oversees all aspects of community relations, |
|
|
government relations, media marketing, and media relations; she |
|
|
demonstrates excellence in leadership through her affiliation with |
|
|
numerous boards, including the Memorial Hermann Healthcare System, |
|
|
the Houston Imagine Group, the Houston Area Urban League, Inc., and |
|
|
Texas Executive Women, among others; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This dynamic woman has garnered many awards and |
|
|
accolades both for her community service efforts and for her |
|
|
professional achievements; over the past 20 years, she has helped |
|
|
raise some $20 million for local and national nonprofit |
|
|
organizations, and she was recently honored by being named |
|
|
conference vice president for the International Association of |
|
|
Ports and Harbors for 2007; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, By taking a proactive role in her community, |
|
|
Argentina James has rightfully earned the respect and admiration of |
|
|
her family, friends, and neighbors, and her receipt of this award is |
|
|
indeed well deserved; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Argentina M. James on her receipt |
|
|
of the Audrey Lawson Impact Award for service in the community and |
|
|
extend to her best regards for continued success in all her |
|
|
endeavors; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mrs. James as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
