R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Deavra A. Daughtry has been named as a recipient of
  the Audrey Lawson Impact Award for service in the community, and her
  selection for this honor is indicative of the positive effect she
  has had on the lives of her fellow citizens; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Houston, Ms. Daughtry grew up helping
  her grandmother care for their neighbors in the Acres Home
  community and went on to pursue a career in social services with
  Harris County; moved to do more, she volunteered as a caregiver for
  the elderly and disabled and subsequently made it her mission to
  provide quality care to this segment of the population; in 1997, she
  founded Excel-E-Care, a personal home assistance services agency,
  which grew from one employee to more than 40 by the end of its first
  year; today, more than 500 employees help the company achieve its
  goals; and
         WHEREAS, In addition, Ms. Daughtry has organized Excellent
  Care Management, which is furthering and expanding the mission of
  Excel-E-Care through the development of a senior community, and she
  has formed the Texas Women's Empowerment Foundation, a nonprofit
  organization that strives to help women and their families reach
  their fullest potential; over the years, she has received numerous
  honors, including the YMCA Minority Achievers Award and the
  Pinnacle Award from the Greater Houston Citizen Chamber of
  Commerce; in 2005, she was named a "Texas 40 and Under Overachiever"
  by Eclipse magazine; and
         WHEREAS, By taking a proactive role in her community, Deavra
  Daughtry has rightfully earned the respect and admiration of
  countless people, and her receipt of this award is indeed well
  deserved; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Deavra A. Daughtry on her receipt
  of the Audrey Lawson Impact Award for service in the community and
  extend to her best regards for continued success in all her
  endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Daughtry as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
